Oil Barons

Mid-winter olive harvest...  They should be half-green half purple though some are green-ripe... and the edible ones look big and juicy like succulent grapes and its hard to resist taking a bite... I squeezed the hard green fruit in my fingers and felt the slippery oil ooze through.




They made the sound of heavy rain as they fell; piling up on the tarpaulins as we raked them from the trees. They made this sound for three days until we were able to fill the trailer with olives...
